Michael Emerson Rayne – also known by his online persona, Aacrimortis – is a senior undergraduate visual artist based out of South-West Ohio. A curator of digital artifacts, Rayne engages with new wave horror born in the age of the internet, inspired by cursed images, alternative religion, folklore, medieval Christian iconography, and gothic literature. Rayne creates works that are at once sardonic, spiritual, and captivatingly haunting. Paired with hand-built frames made from found objects, the work of Emerson Rayne often transcends the bounds between dream and nightmare, crossing into realms of dystopia and twisted fantasy.
