Ali Maleki, an Iranian-born artist, immigrated to Cologne, Germany in 1993 at the age of 24. He continued his studies in the restoration of historical architecture and interior design, later working and teaching in these fields until relocating to the United States in 2017. His primary artistic focus has long been sculpture. Maleki works with a wide range of materials and techniques, often incorporating recycled elements and industrial remnants to create new sculptural forms. Through this process, he explores how materials transform, interact, and reveal new expressive possibilities. Photography is another essential part of his artistic practice. Maleki documents everyday life, people, and abstract forms, drawing on his early training in analog photography in Iran and later studies in digital photography at the VHS Institute in Cologne. From 2013 to 2016, he served as assistant to renowned German art photographers Anna and Bernhard Blume. He currently lives and works in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
