Kyla Machado I am a visual artist converting tangible material to art through personal exploration. I invite viewers to think about how they see the world, encouraging reflection on the ideas often hidden beneath everyday imagery. I like to capture permanence and beauty in usual temporal or disposable items within life in a subliminal way. My art helps temper the constant heaviness of the world at heart but also the peace. Something felt intuitively, connecting us all as humans. My primary medium is ceramics, but my practice also extends into drawing, painting, and photography. I have always gravitated towards ceramics as a medium for how I can connect with the clay in my hands as a direct relation to the earth. I let my mind create and lead most in the process within my work and studio practice. Influences include pop-art and my personal, biographical background of origin and ironic symbolism.
